[size=1.2em]Thequestion is not "Is the healthcare system broken?" The key question is"What is it that we want from a system of health and healthcare in theUnited States?" Dr. Cortese will offer a perspective on the answers tothis timely question while examining the quest for increasing value inhealthcare.
ABOUT DR. CORTESE
Denis Cortese is President and CEO of Mayo Clinic, an internationalleader in applying engineering and computing expertise to creatingadvanced health informatics systems that contribute to affordable,quality healthcare. He is a graduate of Temple University MedicalSchool and completed Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases trainingat Mayo Clinic. He served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp during1974-1976. He is a Professor of Medicine and former director of thepulmonary disease training program.
Dr. Cortese's major research interests and publications have been ininterventional bronchoscopy including appropriate use of photodynamictherapy, endobronchial laser therapy and endobronchial stents. Heserved as a president of the International Photodynamic Association.
