The Office of the National Coordinator has posted a list of certified health IT products that includes both complete electronic health record (EHR) systems and modules that so far have been tested and certified to meet the first stage of meaningful use.
The certified health IT product list is available here.
The product list provides the vendor name and product version and explains for what criteria the EHRs have been certified. With the master list, healthcare providers will be able to determine what combination of certified products or modules together satisfy all of the certification criteria.
Healthcare providers must use an EHR on the certified list to qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentives under the HITECH act.
“Only those EHR technologies appearing on the [ONC list] may be granted the reporting number that will be accepted by CMS for purposes of attestation under the EHR incentive program,” ONC said in its announcement.
Certification is designed to assure healthcare providers that the EHR technology they acquire can perform the functions required for meaningful use and therefore qualify for incentives.
So far, three organizations have been approved to test and certify the health IT systems that appear on the list: the Drummond Group, the Certification Commission for Health IT and and InfoGard Laboratories, Inc. |
