HL7 Version 3 in the NHS
<br>Two years ago the NHS took a leading role in HL7 Version 3 development by supporting the use of HL7 Version 3 methods in the development of the GP to GP Communication Project (<a href="http://www.nhsia.nhs.uk/gp2gp)" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nhsia.nhs.uk/gp2gp)" target="_blank">www.nhsia.nhs.uk/gp2gp)</a></a>.
<br>Now the NHS is actively pursuing the development of many other HL7 Version 3 messages to meet the requirements of NHS modernisation.
<br>HL7 UK is pleased to see the NHS taking positive practical steps towards widespread use of this strategic standard for interoperability and communication between health care systems.
<br>The NHS is participating in the consensus standards development process associated with HL7 Version 3 message development through HL7 UK.
<br>Membership of HL7 UK is open to all and currently includes staff from many parts of the NHS, as well as suppliers, informatics experts and independent consultants.
<br>HL7 UK is pleased to offer a place for all its members to discuss, harmonise and adopt standards for healthcare communication which will underpin the next decade
