HHS Secretary changes HIMSS speaking plans

<br>HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt has cancelled his keynote speech next month during the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society’s annual conference in San Diego. Leavitt changed his schedule to attend a pandemic flu conference in Europe.

<br>“We’re still working on a few other names [of government leaders],” said HIMSS CEO H. Stephen Lieber.
<br>
<br>Leavitt, who was to speak Monday during the conference, has been a major champion for healthcare IT issues since taking office more than a year ago.
<br>
<br>National Coordinator for Health Information Technology David Brailer is still scheduled to speak Monday during the conference, held Feb. 12-16.
<br>
<br>Brailer will speak about regional health information organizations, according to Dana Haza, a spokesperson for the Office of the National Coordinator for Healthcare Information Technology. |
