NHS CFH Publish Standard for elearningNHS Connecting for Health have published a best practice standard for the development and management of elearning. In response to feedback from stakeholders in the NHS, the document has been developed and launched as part of NHS CFH’s suite of Education, Training and Development (ETD) standards.
The standard for elearning has been developed to share existing best practice around elearning development and utilisation. It has been developed, reviewed and approved by a training design authority made up of stakeholders from inside the NHS, and from members of the supplier community involved in delivering the National Programme for IT.
Alongside the standard, an elearning toolkit has also been launched. This toolkit provides further, more detailed guidance to those involved in elearning around the process of assessing, designing, delivering and evaluating elearning products. The toolkit also sets out a project management framework for elearning development, and signposts other useful resources.
Dave Andelin, Senior Programme Manager in NHS Connecting for Health, said “the need for a shared approach within the NHS to elearning has become evident as elearning has become a bigger part of the training services being offered to support the deployment of the National Programme for IT. We see this best practice documentation as the foundation for a programme of work to collaborate within the NHS more in this area, in order to ensure that benefits from the existing elearning expertise within the NHS, and from elearning itself are fully realised.”
