Speaker’s Bio
Dianne Nixon is the Head of IT at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) with over 15 years experience of health IT. Dianne has steered the CUH’s highly successful health IT program, picking up a number of National and International awards for the development of innovative IT applications.
CUH is situated on one of the four UK Bio-medical sites, which is also the home of a number of prestigious organisations e.g Medical Research Centre; Headquarters of Cancer Research UK, Smith Kline Beecham; Wellcome Trust. CUH is also a world renowned teaching hospital with links to Cambridge University departments. CUH also has an enviable record in R&D achievements for medicine.
Papworth Hospital which also enjoys international recognition for their achievements within Respiratory Medicine, transplantation and a national centre for sleep study has a planned move for a new hospital build on the Cambridge campus.
The reputation of CUH is such that it attracts the brightest academics and practicing clinicians from around the globe, with Addenbrooke’s being a National Centre for a number of clinical specialtys.
Dianne has been employed by the National Health Service for 14 years and has an excellent understanding of the complexities that surround acute care. Dianne’s main area of interest is clinical IT and how new and emerging technology can be utilised to provide cohesive solutions that can be deployed to deliver information at the point of care.
Taking a pragmatic approach Dianne has been responsible for leading CUH along its path of turning visionary IT innovation into reality; along the way picking up a number of international awards.
Dianne is well known within NHS IT with several interviews being published in leading UK publications such as Computer Weekly and the British Journal of Healthcare Information Management. |
