HHS awards Deloitte state HIE support contract
Deloitte will assist states with infrastructure, governance and technical operations in setting up health information exchanges.
The Health and Human Services Department awarded a $5.6 million contract to Deloitte Consulting LLP to assist state organizations that are developing health information exchanges under grants funded by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.
In February, the ONC awarded $386 million in grants to 40 states to ramp up health information exchange systems to help physicians and hospitals to become meaningful users of health IT.
The contract to Deloitte, which provides management, consulting and accounting services, will last for three years, according to the March 31 announcement on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site
Deloitte will advise states on their technical infrastructure, including the architecture, software, network configurations, standards and certifications that enable the technical services that comprise health information exchange in a secure manner.
The company will also help to bring together various health care organizations to create trust and consensus on an approach for statewide health information exchange and to provide oversight and accountability to make sure the exchange complies with state policies and laws. |
